Frequently asked questions

Do I need a computer?

No. Everything — building, testing, exporting and signing APKs — happens on the phone.

Do I need to know how to code?

No. Behaviors and event sheets cover most games. JavaScript scripts are optional, for when you want more control.

Is it free? Can I sell my games?

Making and exporting games is free. Your games are yours. The free models, sounds and skies are by Kenney under CC0, so you can use them in commercial games without credit (a thank-you is appreciated).

Does it work offline?

Yes, except the free asset libraries (they download once) and sending feedback.

Where are my projects saved?

On your phone, inside the app. There is no cloud: use Backup (.tge) to keep copies.

Can I make 2D games?

Tiny Game Engine is a 3D engine, but you can make 2D-looking games with an Orthographic camera, flat shapes and Unlit materials.

Can I put my game on Google Play?

Google Play needs an App Bundle (AAB), which isn’t exported yet. You can share the APK directly, or upload the HTML or APK to sites like itch.io.

Can I publish for iPhone?

Export as HTML: the file runs in Safari on iPhone and iPad.

How big can a game be?

There’s no fixed limit, but phones have limited memory. Keep models and textures small; see Performance.

Which 3D model formats work?

.glb (and single-file .gltf). Most modelling tools and free model sites can export glTF.

How do I report a bug or suggest a feature?

? → Send feedback or Report a problem, or email contact@jeevagames.com. See Feedback.
