Particles

Particles are many tiny sprites that make effects: fire, smoke, sparkles, explosions, dust, rain, confetti, magic.

Add an effect

Emission

FieldWhat it does
Per secondParticles made every second (0 = bursts only).
BurstParticles shot at once when it starts.
Play on startStarts with the scene. Off = wait for Start particles.
Loop / DurationKeep going, or stop after Duration seconds.
ShapeFountain (cone), Ball (sphere), Point, Box (area).
Radius / Area size / SpreadSize of the emitter; cone angle.

Motion

FieldWhat it does
Lifetime (s)Min–max seconds each particle lives.
SpeedMin–max start speed.
Gravity1 = falls like objects, 0 = floats, negative = rises.
Air dragSlows particles down.
Leave behindOn: particles stay where they were made (trails, smoke). Off: they move with the object.

Look

FieldWhat it does
Size over lifetimeA curve from birth (left) to death (right).
Color over lifetimeA gradient: keys above the bar set transparency, below set color.
GlowAdditive, light-adding look (fire, sparks). Off for smoke and confetti.
TextureAn image per particle; none = a soft round dot.

Particles from events and scripts

  • Actions: Start particles, Stop particles, Burst particles (N at once), Set particle rate, Spawn particles here (a one-off effect at the object) and Spawn particles (a preset at any position — great for an explosion where something was destroyed). Condition: Is emitting particles.
  • Scripts: entity.emitParticles(30), game.spawnParticles('Explosion', x, y, z, { burst: 50 }).

The project’s Max particles setting caps all effects together. See Performance.
